What is academic and life coaching?

Academic and life coaching is a personalised, goal-focused partnership between a coach, a student, and their family. It goes beyond tutoring or academic support focusing on the skills, mindset, and habits that allow young people to manage their studies, stress, and lives more independently. I work with students across IB, British GCSEs and A-Levels, and Asian curricula, supporting families in Singapore, the UAE, the UK, Australia, and internationally.

How is coaching different from tutoring?

Tutoring teaches subject content. Coaching focuses on the underlying skills that determine how a student performs across all subjects time management, revision approach, stress management, and self-motivation. Many families find both work well together, with each addressing a different need.

How is coaching different from therapy?

Therapy focuses on mental health and past experiences. Coaching is future-focused and action-oriented building practical skills and strategies for real life. I work collaboratively with therapists when students are receiving both, ensuring the approach is consistent and complementary.

Who do you work with?

Students aged 12 and above through to university level, across a wide range of curricula and academic systems. I also work with parents directly through parent coaching, and with families together through workshops. My clients come primarily from international school communities in Singapore, the UAE, the UK, Australia, and beyond.

How often are coaching sessions held?
The frequency of coaching sessions can be tailored to your child’s needs and availability. Typically, sessions are held on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. We will work together to determine a schedule that suits you/your child’s preferences and ensures consistent progress towards their goals.
How do you ensure the privacy and confidentiality of the coaching sessions?
Confidentiality is of utmost importance in coaching. As a certified coach, I adhere to strict ethical standards of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and maintain confidentiality with all client information and discussions. I prioritize creating a safe and supportive environment where you/your child can freely express themselves without fear of judgment.
What is the pricing for coaching services?
The pricing for coaching services can vary depending on the specific needs and duration of the coaching program. During the consultation, we can discuss your/your child’s requirements and provide you with the pricing details and package options that best align with your goals and budget.
How can I schedule a consultation or get more information?

What is my role as a parent in the coaching process?

My approach is built around a three-way partnership between coach, student, and parent because lasting change is far more likely when everyone is aligned. As a parent your role is to provide a supportive home environment and stay engaged with your child’s progress. I’ll guide you on how to do that effectively without overstepping.

How will I be kept informed?

I provide regular written session summaries, separate parent check-in calls, a shared progress tracker, and WhatsApp availability between sessions. Staying connected with parents is something I take seriously.

Can I do parent coaching separately from my child's coaching?

Absolutely. Parent coaching is a standalone service particularly valuable for parents feeling stuck in conflict with their teenager or unsure how to find the right balance between support and independence.

How can I stay involved without overstepping boundaries?
It’s important to find a balance between being involved and allowing your child to take ownership of their coaching journey. Respect their autonomy and encourage them to share their experiences and insights. Trust the coach’s expertise and guidance while maintaining open lines of communication to address any concerns or questions you may have.
Can I communicate with the coach directly?
Yes, you can communicate with the coach directly. Open and regular communication with the coach can provide you with insights into your child’s progress, areas of improvement, and strategies that can be implemented at home to support their development.
How will I be updated on my child's progress?
The coach will provide regular updates on your child’s progress, goals, and areas of improvement. This can be done through progress reports, feedback sessions, or scheduled check-ins. Additionally, you can discuss the preferred method of communication and frequency of updates with the coach.
How can I address concerns or provide feedback to the coach?
If you have any concerns or feedback regarding your child’s coaching experience, it’s important to address them with the coach directly. Schedule a time to discuss your concerns openly and honestly, allowing the coach to understand your perspective and work collaboratively towards a solution.

Remember, academic coaching is a partnership between the coach, the student, and the parents. By actively participating and providing support, you can create a supportive and empowering environment for your child’s academic success.
